The TN37 fully automatic transmission designed and developed by David Brown is installed in the Khalid and Al Hussein main battle tanks. The TN54E fully automatic transmission designed and manufactured by David Brown is installed in the Challenger 2 main battle tank and the CRARRV recovery vehicle and is to be fitted to the Engineer tank system TROJAN and TITAN vehicles. David Brown has developed the new DB-1500 fully automatic transmission for heavy armoured vehicle applications, as a private venture uprated version of the TN54 Challenger 2 transmission. It is also available, integrated with the Perkins CV12 engine (also rated at 1500bhp), into a power pack for new Challenger 2 main battle tanks or repair and recovery vehicles.
These hydro mechanical steering transmissions have been designed and developed by General Dynamics Land Systems in the United States of America.
