The world famous Radicon worm gear speed reducers can trace their origins back to the early 1900's when David Brown fitted its first standard production unit fitted with a 'patent' worm gear.
It wasn't until 1933 that David Brown adopted the name RADICON to the worlds first fan cooled worm gear unit, being derived from the three principles of heat dissipation used in the basic design - RADiation Induction CONvection.
So successful has the radicon range of products been, that the name has emerged as the generic term for worm gear speed reducers throughout the world.
Although the name remains the same today, the product certainly has not. David Brown's reputation for engineering integrity, product quality and reliability has been founded on a policy of continuous research and development.
Since 1920 each new design heralded a major step forward in design, innovation and performance standards when first introduced just as the new Radicon Series A Grandmaster does today.

Benzlers and Cone Drive are sister companies of David Brown, also part of the Textron family. Working together enables us to offer a full range of gear products and provide global services and support.
